Test Drive for September 2013 Apps

Welcome to our first Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where players can test out their characters' voices, try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[ Using her nail to mark her place on the map, she turns to look at Porrim over her shoulder. If she had any problem with her closeness, she didn't acknowledge it. With a warm smile, she pushed her glasses up with her free hand. ]

Not exactly-- Or not yet, I should say. Before I fully consider setting sail, I wish to know more about Empieza and the lands surrounding it. It would be foolish to set off without knowing what's out there, even it might take away the element of surprise and adventure.

[She doesn't move an inch, still looking at the maps and texts in front of her.]

There will always be surprise and adventure even if you do know where you're going. At least you won't be lost.

That is my exact line of thought. It wouldn't due to get lost in a strange land, and while some may be more willing to jump into such things, I'd rather know where I am going and what to expect. It would not due to find myself in a pinch because I was unprepared. I may even prove useful to a crew in need of someone more knowledgeable than most newcomers. [ She smiles even more at the thought. ]

What about you? Do you intend to set sail?

[Ugh, sailing. Her expression falls a bit and she straightens her back.]

Only when I have to. I'm still not keen on the idea, even if it's our only way back. [And even then, it's not as if she's in a big hurry to get back to the afterlife. That sure was a lot of fun, wasn't it.]

The idea rather excites me, personally. Though, I suppose that is a given considering in another lifetime I was a pirate. I don't think I have quite the same penchant for adventure as Mindfang, but maybe this will be my chance to experience firtshand what her life was like......... Perhaps without the slavery and killing part. [ She gave the jade blood an apologetic look as if she herself were singlehandedly responsible for the enslavement of her Alternian self. ]

I'm sure if we must sail home we sail home together. It might not be so bad with familiar company. [ Even if Porrim probably preferred the company of someone other than her former matesprit. ]

As long as I don't have to sit through endless re-tellings of your other life, go ahead and count me in.

[Ex or not, Aranea was trustworthy. And it's not like she knows anyone else on the island.]

...You do have a ship, right?

I will try to keep tales of Mindfang to a minimum. It is a bad habit, but I find her story and history far too interesting not to hold a strong interest. I could always talk about your Alternain self, of course. Or anyone else's, for that matter. Though, if that is far too boring I am sure if we are going home we will only have new and exciting stories of our adventures here to speak of.

[ Her face fell. ] Not exactly-- Not yet, but it is not that I don't intend to. Particularly if we must return home thus. Perhaps we should start forming a crew now? I daresay I'm not fit to take up the position of Captain, but perhaps I can take the place of Temporary Captain until we find someone more suitable. That is, unless you would prefer to take up the role.

[At the mere thought of being captain, she puts her hands up and backs away.]

Noooo thank you. I think I speak for the entire future crew when I say that I am the least suitable captain. I don't mind telling others what to do, but you can keep the rest of the role. Now if you need someone to be beacon for your ship, that I could help you with.
