Welcome to our first Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where players can test out their characters' voices, try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Kurapika was seated on the polished wood of the deck, nose buried in a weathered-looking old text. He brushed a droplet of water off the page he was reading with a small, fastidious flick of his fingers.]

As far as reconstructing ink inscriptions are concerned, the first step is to ascertain whether there are any residual --

[He paused as he caught sight of her. ]

...traces of ink that bonded with the paper. The right chemical analysis could reveal those traces and make the marks visible again.

[She's a little too not-in-sight-of-land to be really concerned by being seen in her Majesdanian form. Sorry, it's not personal.]

Is there a way to do that on this ship? Science, magic-- I have no idea where I am and while I can recharge my powers indefinitely as long as the sun is up, I'm afraid to try flying too far at night.

I brought quite a few solvents with me on this journey, but it depends. On the type of ink used, the type of paper...

[He lowered the book onto his lap, smoothing the pages flat.]

And, of course, on whether you trust me with your map. May I ask what it is you're looking for?

If it turns out I can't trust you -- if you choose to destroy my map or something, for example -- we'll get into a fight. I'm not sure if you've ever fought someone with my powers before, and there are easier ways to learn how than by provoking me.

[She isn't bragging or anything. She learned to fight mostly by getting into fights and has since honed her skills on Majesdane. She's gotten pretty good and she has no qualms defending herself.]

Mostly for my friends. We're good at running away, but I have no idea how "away" this is. But only one of them can fly and none of them are capable of surviving in the water. So they are probably on land.
