Test Drive for June 2014 Apps

Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for

high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

And Leon instinctively leaned back a bit. Being told of a giant tiger, and seeing one face to face, were two totally separate things. Still, said tiger didn't seem like a bad... person... at least he didn't seem to want to eat him, and he was a crew mate, right?

"It's alright." Leon wasn't sure what other response to give, though apparently his brain did. "I just didn't want a salt-water bath today.

"You're Doo-gan, right? Or, something of the sort. A couple of others have mentioned you."

"Dougen, yes. You were close," he said, yawning and cracking his neck a few times, "I must say, this is certainly an interesting experience. Would you believe I didn't even know what sailing was, at first?"

Leon's lips moved, memorizing the name. "Sorry for the hack job.

"And no offense, but I wouldn't imagine a tiger generally knowing about sailing. Although it seems you quite like its perks."

With this, Leon tilted his head towards the fish that were sitting on deck.

"Well, I've been trying to stop killing to survive, but that's not much of an option in this place. The food I'd normally eat has not been created. Fish is about the best I can do and not feel too guilty about it."

"Most places it's not an option." Carefully, Leon moved over to the fish, hoping Dougen wouldn't mind all too much. "Looks like you caught some good ones though."

"Feel free to pick out the ones that look good to you. I don't have a very discerning palate, myself," he said, checking them over. He grabs a giant clam he snagged along the way, easily prying it open with his claws.

"Oh ho? What's this thing?" he asks, picking a bowling ball-sized pearl from the center of it, "It doesn't look very edible. Too hard."

At least Dougen seemed very friendly, and Leon actually knelt to look the fish over. He knew just enough to at least not eat anything that would kill him, and given the right amount of equipment, could make something edible.

He looked up at the comment, though, and smiled. "It's a pearl. For some reason, clams sometimes have them. But it definitely isn't edible."

"Hm...Well, I don't have much use for it. Should I throw it over the side? I doubt I can just use it as a cannonball."

"Hold onto it." Leon suggested, randomly sorting fish for no obvious reason, other than it was something to do. "A lot of people might find it valuable, or worth trading for."

"Well, I can usually find food for myself, and I don't see much point in having an indoor lair. I can't imagine what I'd really want from anyone."

Those words made Leon smile, almost laugh. It had been a while since he'd met anyone who didn't have some plot going, or some want that they were willing to trade for. Even Claire, as much as he loved her, was constantly trying to find Chris, who didn't seem capable of staying still for long.

"Well, hold onto it as a gift then. Or for sometime where it's needed and you didn't at all expect it to be."
