Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

♦ Arrr, here be buried treasure, but not all that glitters is gold! Will ye be telling your mateys what ye found, or keeping it for yourselves?

[He flicks one of Peter's orange head feathers, then backs off.]

Name's Namur. Flyin' anywhere specific, Sparklebutt? How territorial're phoenixes, anyway? Only got the one so far, don't know if I oughta be intr'ducin' y' or shooin' y' 'fore he smells y'.

[peter_the_phnx]

S-s-sparklebutt!? [he squeaked as he said it, and fluffed up in annoyance.] It's Peter! i'm just trying to get to the next island, and my butt does not... sparkle!

[His outrage might have gone on for a moment longer, but he squinted his eyes at the shark man's comment] Phoenixes? There's only one Phoenix. That's how legend works. Don't tell me you have one here already!?

[this world hopping thing is hard. Oh Volcanon help!]

Got three on the damn ship. Four if we add y' in t' the mix. An' that ain't even talkin' 'bout Leanne an' Naesala who ain't phoenixes or Zoan but they go 'tween bein' birds an' humans.

[This all sounds so insane. He's not sure how he feels about this at ALL. Maybe he needs to go roost and rest somewhere else. His feathers are still puffy, very sure here.]

T-three?! The bird people of Bedoe are one thing, but none of them claim to be a Phoenix. I've never seen another like me! I thought I was alone...

[How strange!] You ... say they are territorial?

[Finnian seemed a little happier at being back on land. While being at sea was nice and all, land was just something different and fun, but before he could start heading off, he couldn't help but notice the other frowning.]

Is something wrong? Do you need help?

[Girl has been sheltered, everything's exciting for her.]

I was born on Motavia, but I have never been outside of the Bio-plant until now. I've never seen space or been in it. There used to be space ships a thousand years ago, but if found, they might not be functional anymore.

[But he never heard about Motavia or Dezolis, and she never heard about Permecia, which could only mean...]

You must be from a different solar system! I never knew such advanced technology existed! Even a thousand years ago, the space ships weren't able to leave our solar system.

So... it's not literally hell. [He ponders this a moment.]

Where am I then? And what are you?

Oh, I know where Russia and China are! [...roughly. she probably imagines russia a lot bigger than it is] So it's east of China?

Are they islands like this one? [picking some twigs out of her sleeves — it's a shame, she's quite fond of this dress]

[witcraft]

Ah, no, it's nothing... I just can't go on this island.

[she places her hands on the wheels to indicate her problem] This chair isn't really meant for going up bumpy roads like that, see? And it's hard to go uphill with the Hexe Ballon too. So I'll have to stay on the ship.

[He felt bad for her in this way, not being able to do things like he could. He thought it must be tough for her that way, but wanting her to enjoy this place as much as he hope he would he smiled.]

Then why don't I carry you around? It wouldn't be that hard. [He knew he was at least controlling his strength better and wasn't so worried about hurting people as much now.]

[witcraft]

— could you really do that?!

[MUCH WANT]

[but she recomposes herself, analyzing the possibilities] A-Ah, but it's probably not such a good idea. If the island has any aggressive natives or feral animals, it'll be hard to protect me.

[solokun]

[Hell yeah, new island! Kirito can't wait to check it out. Maybe there will be a dungeon to explore or something like that. Sure, it's not a game or anything, but these islands usually have some sort of deep, dark place full of treasure or interesting things to fight.

So he's stretching near Sieglinde's chair, twisting his torso this way and that, bending over, basically getting nice and limber. He pulls his swords out of the sheaths on his back and checks them real quickly before replacing them, and then he goes back to stretching.

It's when he's pulling one arm across his chest does Sieglinde say this, and his dark eyes flit over to her for a second before he glances off and up to the side.]

Well, that's boring then.

[witcraft]

[her tone is about as flat and cold as an eleven-year-old girl can possibly manage]

Boring is the least of it. I don't exactly have any choice.

[solokun]

[Observant as always, he notices the cold tone but ignores it and shrugs.]

You could ask someone to help. It's a big crew, you know.

[wantsarobotgarden]

[He pauses for a moment and figures she did bring up a good point.]

I don't think it would. Then again, that is just me. [He gives a small laugh. He is use to having to protect the house, but that was different, he never had to protect someone who was physically there at the time.]

I mean, maybe there is trouble, but it still doesn't mean someone should get left behind.

[witcraft]

Well, I'd be asking a lot more than a piggyback ride.

I might be light and easy to carry — [...at least she's aware of it] — but if we run into danger it'd be difficult to fight while protecting me, wouldn't it?

[solokun]

Eh, not really.

[He says this like he's done it before.

And while he seems rude and blunt, he's kind at heart. Sieglinde looks about the same age as his sister the last time he saw her, so maybe that's why he's crouching in front of her and rubbing his chin thought.]

Guess it can't be helped. Looks like you're partnering with me today, Sieglinde-san.

[witcraft]

I think I'd feel worse if something happened and we both got injured than if I stayed behind and you came back in one piece.

[stretches in her chair a little, yawning to give off the pretense that she isn't very interested] Besides, it's okay. I'm a witch, so I'll prepare a good luck charm for those that are heading out!

[witcraft]

[she's still huffy over his "boring" remark from before — but she's easy to please and easy to read, and the excitement on her face is pretty obvious]

Eh? You're taking me with you?

[solokun]

[Which makes him smirk.]

Cold to hot. That wasn't hard at all.

[Then he stands and starts to adjust his sheaths so that they're on his hips instead of his back to make this all easier.]

My strength stat is--ah, that is to say, I'm tougher than I look, so carrying you shouldn't be a problem.

[witcraft]

Cold to hot? Ooh, are you trying to court me? [sieglinde no]

You look pretty small for a man though! Not that I've met many men in my life.

[solokun]

[Okay, that makes him laugh.]

I meant the personality change. Getting out and seeing the island must really excite you.

[Yeahhh, still laughing so that he can ignore the dig at his size.]

[witcraft]

[the irony is that she's pretty tiny herself...]

Yeah! I used to live in Wolfscchlucht before — it's a village in Germany — and I wasn't allowed to leave, but I always wanted to see the world outside. Before I came here, I'd never seen the ocean before!

But now that we've sailed around for a while, I'm really tired of the ocean... I want to explore the islands like everyone else, but I'm always stuck on the ship whenever there aren't established roads.
