♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!
♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!
♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!
♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!
♦ Arrr, here be buried treasure, but not all that glitters is gold! Will ye be telling your mateys what ye found, or keeping it for yourselves?
Edward Kenway | Assassin's Creed
It isn't the first time Edward's woken up somewhere he didn't fall asleep at, or know entirely how he got there to begin with. That nobody he knew the face of was in the immediate area was only mildly concerning, he's got his clothes and his weapons and there's no new bleeding wounds that he can find so all in all it's not too bad.
First things first is finding his ship, then it's giving a bit of hell to whoever dragged him to a somewhat poorly looking fountain.
So he just strides on up to the nearest person looking his way with a bit of a grin, "Ey, you mind pointing a man towards the harbor? I seem to have been put to land prematurely."
On a Ship:
Despite his eccentricities, Edward does know his way around a ship backwards and forwards and likely upside down as well if pressed to perform as such. Even if he doesn't like working under someone else, he's not one to shirk duties or otherwise be of little use.
"Any of you lot know a song or two? Ain't right to have a ship sailing on a fine day and not be singin' yanno?" He speaks up, looking up from whatever it is he's busied his hands with.

The man's grin makes her glare. He's either an idiot or he's in on it. She hasn't decided which.
"To the east," she replies, crossing her arms over her vest, crossbow at her side. "About an hour's walk."

Her eyes stay narrow as she watches him. His appraisal is turned back on him, merciless. And her gaze? Says she finds him wanting.

There's worse things than some girl not seeing him as a threat, plenty don't until he's cutting through them on to the next man behind them.
no subject
But... Her expression falters just a little. "I need to find him, though. He might be sick."
no subject
Whether they were accurate or not was anyone's guess.
"He got a name, your brother? And I can't be calling you 'lass' the while time either."
no subject
"His name's Hansel. I'm Gretel."

If it's anyone he knows and likes then he'll have to stop her from killing them, otherwise he won't do much to stop her. Even if he is beginning to think that really, her brother just wanted away from her.
"Edward Kenway, Catain of the Jackdaw wherever she's at. Now how about we take a look for that brother of yours? You tried the tavern yet?"
town square!
It's not too far from here. Head west and just keep going. It's hard to miss.
no subject
Many thanks Miss, you also wouldn't happen to know which way it is towards Havanna would you? The stars aren't out yet and I'd rather not wait to set off.
no subject
[ Was that supposed to be some sort of island? Well should be if he needed stars to get to it, right? She's studied the map of this world so many times, she could probably name every island in this world. But Havanna?
Unless... ]
You're not from this world, are you?
no subject
[It's probably the Pacific Ocean then, though how in seven hells he got that far off from the Caribbean is anyone's guess.]
Just pray my crew hasn't left me and stolen my ship. They'll be needing whatever prayers they can get if my Jackdaw's not there.

[ But she does set aside her book. Looks like it was time to get serious if she wanted to get through to this guy. Though he did kind of remind her of her captain. That's cute. ]
Listen sweetheart, whatever world you originated from, you're not there anymore. I don't know this "Havanna" place not because I've never been there. But because it probably doesn't exist here. Do you understand?
I'm already sorry about him
[It's muttered and irritated and welsh but he's not going to- nope. She called him sweetheart and is using that look that he's been tired of since he could notice people looking at him.]
I ain't your sweetheart, first of all. And second of all I don't need some high and mighty fussy looking lady talking to me like I'm touched in the head when she's the one talking about being on a different world all together and sounding like she should be carted to bedlam.
LMAO I love him already
[ Cue the sweet innocent smile. See, she's used to talking to crazy pirate men, and she was positive this guy would get along with her captain if the two ever met...speaking of meeting, she hasn't introduced herself yet. Whoops, how rude of her. ]
By the way, my name is Cynthia. Sinnoh league champion and quartermaster to the Hazmat Crew.
he's a national treasure really
[Least complicated thing ever really, what's complicated is how she's insisting that it's not the same sea he knows.]
Edward Kenway, Captain of the Jackdaw. I've no idea what sort of champion you are but it isn't one of making sense.
no subject
[ Bitchy? Or maybe that was her alternate way of getting through to him the message that THIS ISN'T YOUR WORLD DAMMIT. But the mention of being a captain does catch her attention. Clearly this guy has a whole lot more experience, and she could use more experienced men in her crew. ]
...but I'd love to hear more.
no subject
[Everyone who's ever been around them should know that as far as Edward believes.]
The Jackdaw's a fine brig, I've sailed her right out from under the noses of a bunch of fools who thought to sail in a hurricane. She was the only one to survive the storm and so she's home as much as the island and the sea she sails on.
[If he sounds like a proud father it's... not too far off really.]
no subject
[She was trying to sounds as interested as possible. Not because he was officially a candidate for scouting (when he stops being crazy), but because she was genuinely curious what a REAL pirate crew was like. Oh sure, her crew was top notch. Richest crew around with a shiny new ship to boot. But this guy just had a vibe to him. Like you just know he has some good stories. ]
no subject
[He shrugs about it, he cares about his crew and the others but they're not what keeps him going out.]
no subject
[ Or clash? After all, they were so alike it was a little strange. Cool because she was pretty much looking an the western reflection of her darling captain. But strange because...she's looking at the western reflection of her darling captain. ]
Actually, you two should meet sometime. Feel free to visit the Nightfury. We've got plenty of rum and not enough people to drink it.

It was very highly unusual for Jun to wake up in a strange town. She usually kept a good look out on her surroundings, so she knew exactly where she was and more importantly where potential enemies were. This was beyond strange.
"I am unsure."
There was the fountain and the small grouping of buildings around it, but very little else, not even a sign that might have pointed in the correct direction.
"I do not know where this is."
A faint pout pulled at the corners of her mouth, hesitant to admit she was so very out of her element to a stranger.
"Can you tell me, please, where we are?"

Edward Kenway's life has been a series of ridiculous meetings of late and he's not sure he really wants to get involved with another... but she's young and lost and he's got a soft place in his heart even with the crust of advenurelust and worry only for himself over most of it.
"No idea what it's name is, but I wager it's at least not a hostile one considering there's no guns or swords pointed at us."
no subject
"But I was not near the sea before."
This was all very curious, almost like being spirited away in one of the old stories she remembered being told when she was a child. One day you were walking along minding your own business and the next you were in the world of spirits. They were only stories and yet...
"You were looking for your ship?"
He had said he had 'put to land prematurely' so that implied he might be looking for his ship.
