Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

♦ Arrr, here be buried treasure, but not all that glitters is gold! Will ye be telling your mateys what ye found, or keeping it for yourselves?

Is that a threat? I'm trembling in my boots....[he stepped a little closer to her, purple eyes sharp with disdain]

I've killed people for less. But since you've been of use to me, I suppose you've earned a little mercy. Now run along...you're not going to want to be on this island when I subjugate it.

[booyaka_boom]

Good. So you should be.

*Selphie didn't back away, just put her hands on her hips and glowered straight back at him*

How kind of you... Thank you for being so lovely and thoughtful and sparing me...

*She did want to leave, but she didn't leave straight away, because she didn't want it to look like she was just doing what he said, so she stays put and stares*

[he chuckled a bit, watching her in amusement] you've got a little attitude, how cute. I like that.

[since she was sticking around perhaps he could put his conquest on hold a few more minutes and get some information out of her]

Who's this Davy Jones, anyway?

*Selphie narrowed her eyes a little when he called her cute - she usually really liked that as a compliment, but coming from this guy it didn't seem quite the same*

Davy Jones he's... like some kind of spirit ghost pirate guy that wants to take over this world. And he can pull some pretty crappy stunts to try and get it done - manipulating powerful beings, manipulating us, freaking everyone out with curses and enemies and more ghosts... He's an even bigger jerk than you.

A ghost? Really....[too bad his subordinate who specialized in necromancy wasn't here...Venour cursed the fact he hadn't gotten very proficient I it himself. He'd have to find out if this powerful entity could become an ally...if not he'd simply be competition]

Sounds like a force to be reckoned with. But why would he give a tail tick about someone getting a crew once they arrive here? Seems like a petty thing for him to waste time on.

[booyaka_boom]

Oh, I don't know. Maybe he doesn't want any of us 'foreigners' around. Some of us have some pretty strong powers. Or maybe he doesn't want us to get too comfortable. We could disappear back home any time. We haven't quite figured out how that works yet.. *And she definitely seemed a little troubled by this*

You thinks he makes you get a crew because he doesn't want you around...are you saying he lives here on this island?

[he raised an eyebrow at the part about disappearing back home and her concern] and this occurs randomly? How irritating.... [he did want to get back home. But not before he'd investigated all the strange things that aroused his curiosity here, such as this Jones character]

I don't...really know where he lives. I mean, I would have thought that maybe he doesn't really live anywhere...

*She nodded a little morosely*

Mmhm. It's pretty horrible. Especially when... Well, it's hard, to lose someone you're close to...

*Though as she looks back up at him, she figures that this guy might not really have a problem with that*

[she figured right. He rolled his eyes a little] Getting sentimental over something like that? Give me a break... [it made him think of the two people he'd been with before coming here...people who were trying to be his 'friends'. They'd probably get sentimental if they were separated. But he didn't care. Nope, not one bit. Well maybe....no. Nope]

Clearly in a world like this where people up and vanish you shouldn't go getting attached to people. That's just foolish...

[booyaka_boom]

Yeah, well, I still figure it's better to have friends, and love, than to be alone and wind up bitter and twisted. *She gave him a rather pointed look*

[doomkitty]

[he frowned in disagreement] I'm not bitter. I'm perfectly happy with who I am [LIES]

And it's fun being twisted...[he smirked] you should try it sometime.

[booyaka_boom]

Well, I didn't say you were bitter, did I?

*And she couldn't resist the urge to stick her tongue out at him*

Oh really? How do you know I'm not already twisted?

Hahahah....if you are, id like to see you prove it.

[he was still smirking] maybe you're not so bad for a furless ape creature with a blindly bright outfit

Nah. You don't want to see me prove it. It's just way too twisted.

*She was doing her best not smile or laugh. But then she just looked a little bewildered*

Uh, I'm a human. You're going to meet a lot of us. And, there's nothing wrong with my dress. Yellow is the best!

I have a feeling I could handle it, heheh. [though his serious idea of twisted was probably much different from her playful interpretation of it]

'Humans' eh? I'll have to remember that. But I'll forget what you said about yellow. It's so bright it offends my eyes.

[booyaka_boom]

*His comment about his eyes made her look up at him, and she realised that his were purple. Then she took a step back and made a point of eyeing him over, from head to toe*

No offense but...I don't think I'm going to take any fashion advice from you.

[doomkitty]

Hn, suit yourself. I can't help it if you've got a bad eye. [ignoring the fact he comes from a different world with different fashions]

[he eyed her over as well] you'll look childish and bubbly in that no matter how shapely your body is. [compliment or insult?] You'd look much better in dark blue or green.

[booyaka_boom]

Hey - I don't look childish! And what's wrong with bubbly?

*She blinked at his mention of her shapely body, clearly not sure if he meant it in a nice way or not*

Well, I have got clothes in dark blue and green. So there.

How can you expect enemies to take you seriously if you look 'bubbly', hm?

[he nodded when she said she had clothes in that color] well, wear them, then.

Maybe if I look so cute and bubbly, people won't expect me to kick their ass. Thought of that, hmm? Whereas you - you look like a jerk straight away so... I'd have my guard up much quicker than you would.

*She seems rather pleased with herself about all this, and gives him a quick wink*

Heheheh...well if I suppose my goal was to make people underestimate me, it would make sense. But I prefer to intimidate so that small fry don't waste my time...and so that when I defeat someone without the element of surprise, they know how completely I've beaten them.

*Selphie totally understands what he's saying, but she's not about to admit that to him. Instead, she just shrugs a shoulder*

Well, whatever works for you, I guess...

Yes, it usually works well. It also helps that I'm well known in my world. But I'll keep in mind that if I'm going up against a stronger opponent and I want them to underestimate me, to dress like a child...

Well known for what? The kindest guy with the nicest friends?

And you're already dressed like you're going to some crappy night club so that's just as bad. Or maybe worse.

[doomkitty]

No. I'm well known as the leader of my race and a merciless conquerer.

[he raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smirk on his lips] Well, looking like I'm going to a night club is better than looking like I belong at a day care.
