Welcome to our first Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where players can test out their characters' voices, try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[He blinks a couple of times at this act of generosity, before smiling.] Really? Uh... ok.

[With that, he is going to plop down on the dry spot of deck, next to where he was mopping. He lets out a deep sigh, leaning back on his hands.]

Say, ...where's home for you?

What would you hunt? Bigger game than I'd go after, I'd imagine.

In my world, those who needed help asked for it. "Heroes" like myself -- that is, individuals who are talented enough in their skills to be trusted -- were sanctioned by the king to travel the world and assist both civilians and Alliance outposts. We were paid for our work in gold and sometimes supplies, and while we still had to obey the orders given to us by the king or his high-ranking generals, we were otherwise allowed to wander independently and do what we wished.

Most preferred to just go from place to place and help out where they were needed. Some attacked the Horde -- the opposing side -- wherever they could. In general, however, I hadn't seen anyone abusing their power or doing anything to hurt people as a whole.

[He narrows his eyes. No, surely she was there. Her devil fruit was as mysterious as her personality, after all.]

At least they'll be in the Locker together?

[Yes, they really needed a carpenter.

Meanwhile, Grell steers them away from the pending storm, turning them gently at increments like they taught her. She's so doing it!]

I was just about to do that! [Maybe.]

I don't understand what showing myself will gain you. But I suppose it won't hurt.

[She's sitting on the edge of the fountain. Was she there a second ago?]

Did you miss me?

[The jitte skitters to the side, leaving Smoker with naught but broken cobblestones in his hands.]

[Zidane turns his attention to the kid addressing him. He can't be from around here, either. The clothes certainly don't seem local, at least. He cracks a grin.]

I'm that obvious, huh? What gave it away?

Those like myself in my world made a habit of doing just that. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it failed.

But what use is life if you live it hiding in a church?

Nico di Angelo was used to being lost. He's once shadowalked his way by accident to China, so he knew all about being lost.

But, usually, he didn't cross time when getting lost. Also, he hadn't been able to shadowalk since being kept in a jar for about a week, so he hadn't done this to himself, which might have been embarrassing, but at least he could undo it himself. This, as far as he could tell, wasn't something he could undo. It sounded an awful lot like god and quest shit, though no one had used those terms. Nico was kind of used to being told to go into dangerous situations for fix problems that weren't really his problems to begin with or find things of great power no one should ever really mess with to get himself or others out of a mess someone else had put them in.

If it weren't for all the pirates, this would practically be a normal Tuesday for Nico.

Now the fourteen year-old demigod had shed his aviator jacket so he didn't swelter to death and wandered around the town, trying to get his bearings. Sickly pale as he was, he was already starting to burn a little. His messy black hair needed a serious cut, and he had dark eyes with bags under them. He hadn't exactly recovered from the whole "been stuck in a jar" incident yet.

Option One
[This... was definitely not a situation she was used to. Then again, Izanami was used to being able to appear where ever and whenever she wanted. She just needed to think of where she wished to be and how she wished to appear, and there she was, usually with some fog to go with it.]

[Walking on her own two feet was... well, not new, but definitely not something she had done for quite a few millenia. She thought she could handle herself, but she had underestimated how large the town was, and how inefficient her sense of direction was. She paused in the middle of the street when a word finally came to her situation, her expression mostly one of disbelief.]

I'm lost.

Option Two
[Someone was sneaking extra portions during meals.]

[Izanami frowned down at her inventory list, positive that she had counted correctly the first five times she had taken stock of their food stores. They were still supposed to have a bushel of apples, several bags of grain, and at least another box of dried meat. The meat and apples were completely gone, and the grain had very little left to it. This was supposed to be a short trip, and they would be close to a town within a few day's time, but with what they had left, it was unlikely the food would last that long.]

[Pursing her lips, she turned abruptly and started up to the deck, fuming and fully intending to make sure the culprit received their just reward.]

[Nor really in his own time because bluh bluh, huge breakout whatever.] But that doesn't mean I'll let you get away and do whatever you want in this world.

I'm looking for my nakama. One of them looks like this. [he only had one sheet of paper and Franky is the best person to find right now because then he can make a ship to help Luffy find the others]

[He should really just...Turn and walk away now. That's the smart choice.

But he's a glutton for punishment.]

[Normally, the brazen display of thievery would have been met with disapproval, but these were hardly normal circumstances, and Ashura was hardly searching for a highly-principled band of warriors for tasks that had nothing to do with stealing. She could be useful, even if she wasn't inclined towards combat.]

[Leaving a coin on the vendor's table--no need to slight them, after all--sie smiled at the woman, nodded towards a quieter part of the street.]

It seems there are a number of people who are new around here. I don't suppose you're one of them?

[Because the locals seemed frustratingly reluctant to provide anything more than advice and supplies.]

Mermaid pirates... She imagined Wakasagihime as one. The mental image couldn't stick. "I guess I just can't see myself as one. I'm not after treasure, just... someone out there like me, you know?"

[ My, that's rather archaic clothing... though with everyone showing up here, he figures he aught to get used to it. There's such a varied population that he can't account for who being what and has to suspend his belief long enough to get his bearings. ]

You shouldn't worry, we all are. Better in company.
