Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Wow, the guy talked like Zoro. And him just eating in front of her was not helping her like this guy,]

Yes I did, and now I'm going to get out of... wherever this is.

That's gonna' be easier said than done. I'm pretty sure we all said that right after we got here, and not a single one of us has done it. Not that I've heard of, and believe me I've asked.

[Trying to reign in his natural tendency to mess with people was still a work in progress. Still, her stomach growl hadn't gone unnoticed by his extremely sensitive ears. He could still do the right thing.

He took one more bite, then extended his hand, letting her peer into the freshly cooked meat in the bin.]

Well, I don't know much about fixing people up, but I do have some extra chicken in this bucket. If you want some of it, that is. Better to be injured and full, than injured and hungry, right?

[She was about to retort that she didn't care if no one else got out, she would when the bin was offered to her. She stared down at it and her stomach growled again. This time she couldn't resist it, and it would be a bad idea to leave and end up starving.]

Fine.

[She reached in and pulled out a drumstick before allowing herself to sit down, placing her Clima Tact close by her. She took a bite out of it. It wasn't anything amazing like Sanji would make, but the second that she started chewing she started to feel better.

She then presumed to dig into the meat, too hungry to really care about table manners.]

[He eyed the Clima Tact curiously, raising a bushy eyebrow.]

What the hell is that thing?

[She swallowed what was in her mouth before replying. She might as well be civil if this guy was willing to share food with her.]

It's my weapon, it's a staff with weather powers called the Perfect Clima Tact. My friend Usopp made it for me.

[She resumed eating.]

So...you just hit people with it? Like a bo staff?

Well I can, but that's not all that it can do. It has several other useful abilities.

[alwaysgrumpy]

Oh? What else, then? It's an old-school kinda' weapon. Do you guys have fire-arms or anything like that, where you're from?

[dorobou_neko]

Yeah, there are plenty of those kinds of things. What? Does this island not have any kind of those weapons?

[alwaysgrumpy]

They have them in this place, but nowhere near what I'm used to. This place is basically several eras back from where I was taken from, technology-wise. We have combustion engines, space-flight, advanced chemistry, all sorts of stuff.

Wind-powered sailing is something people do for fun, unless they're part of some isolated society.

[Okay, other than space-flight, she knew that those kinds of concepts existed, though wind-powered sailing was still considered the norm. But she was more baffled by the way that this guy was talking.

Where the heck did Kuma send her?]

Hey... what island is this anyways?

Isla Empieza. Same place we all ended up, apparently it's pretty common. You probably have money and a journal on you, too.

[He points up at the sky.]

Do you know anything about star formations, by any chance?

['All ended up'? Did this guy get hit by Kuma at a past date too? Does that mean that her friends were here?!

She abruptly stood up, feeling better enough to dot hat much as she looked straight at the dark-haired guy.]

Wait, back up. What do you mean by 'same place we all ended up'? Other people were sent here too?

From what I understand, new people arrive every month. I was taken from Japan.

...Japan? Where is that at? Is it on the Grand Line?

[Oh please don;t tell her that she was sent off the Grand Line, that she did NOT need on top of everything else.]

[alwaysgrumpy]

Grand Line? Never heard of it. Are you not from Earth, then?

[dorobou_neko]

[She let out a small shocked noise as she paused for a second.]

No... I'm from Earth. But... but you don;t know what the Grand Line is? What kind of crazy place is this?!

[alwaysgrumpy]

I'm telling you, I've never heard of it. It might not be the Earth I know.

[dorobou_neko]

The Earth you know? So what your telling me is that your form some other kind of world or something like that?!

[She's had some pretty bizarre things happen to her and all, but that one would be a tad too much for her to comprehend.]

[alwaysgrumpy]

I think most of us are, really.

[dorobou_neko]

[She just staares for a minute before she responded with her usual gracefulness.]

WHAAAAAAAT?!

[She lowered herself back to the ground, putting a hand to her temple. She was pretty sure that her brain felt like it was going to explode. This day went from sucky to outrigt miserable.]

Look, believe it or don't, but I'm pretty sure my world doesn't have a star layout like the one here.

[dorobou_neko]

[She just sits there for a little while before letting out a long breath as she got back up.]

I have one last thing to ask. Is there anyway to get back tot he world that you came from?

[alwaysgrumpy]

What do you think we're all after? Way I heard it, this Davy Jones guy wants us to find some kinda' shards out there on the ocean. If we get 'em, maybe he'll send us back. Even the "maybe" is better than what I've got, though. I sure as hell can't just magic up a path home.

So then we're pretty much stuck here until this Davy Jones sends us back, huh? And even then he may not?

[Her grip on the Clima Tact tightened ever so slightly. So she was stuck here without a way to get home then. Great. Just great.

But what if the others were here as well? It was possible, right? She could look for them, what did she have left to loose?]

I see, thanks for your help. But I've gotta go, there are some guys that I need to start looking for.
