Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[He's not letting her out of his sight. Turning towards where she collapses, he flicks his three blades out to the side. Seems a little too easy to him for her to suddenly say as much, and from his experience with what few women he's seen and heard of on the battlefields back home, he knows not to let down his guard.]

Oh? Surrendering ain't the same as admitting you were wrong.

I still don't believe you're a dead samurai.

[Kodachi blinked up at him, suddenly looking completely vulnerable and waif-like. Her weapons were gone, and her gaze was simply wide-eyed and pink-cheeked and the very picture of innocence.]

Especially as you seem so . . . alive!

[Her voice was breathless as she blinked up at him.]

[He lifts his blades towards her once he stops before the girl, his single eye narrowed.]

That's because I am alive.

[cherrybombpie]

Perhaps. But you still have to convince me.

[She smiled at him, and without another word, darted toward the ship he'd abandoned. Kodachi leapt over the railing and landed onto his deck, racing towards the sails to unfurl them.]

Your ship's mine now! Ohohohoho~! ♥

[Kodachi promptly lobbed a bomb toward the side of the ship she'd just abandoned, which then blew a hole upon contact.]

[Why that little-

He lifts his arm as the side of the ship erupts in an explosion of water and splinters, lost from sight between that and the billowing smoke.]

[She was certain that he'd survive; Date Masamune or not, he had the will of a true fighter.]

I enjoyed our fight, samurai! Perhaps we can have another.

[She stood at the edge of the railing.]

I think you have talent. I offer you the invitation to join me. ♥

Sorry, but I don't take invitations from crazy ladies. 'sides. I think you've overstayed your welcome aboard my ship.

[The response doesn't come from the other ship, however, but from one of the masts of the ship Kodachi now stands aboard.

He points down at her with a sword.]

You can either hop back aboard your ship, what's left of it, or have a nice swim. I've got no reason to throw invitations out to people who won't take me at my word.

[Kodachi spun around, arching a brow. He was good! She enjoyed the challenge!]

[She looked up at him defiantly before propelling herself into the air, landing perfectly on the same mast but on the opposite side.]

[The "crazy lady" gave him a smile.]

I'm not leaving, samurai ghostie.

[put_yur_guns_on]

You got guts, I'll give you that.

[He grins.]

It'd be a shame to make you have to swim all the way home.

[cherrybombpie]

That's because you won't make me.

[Kodachi flashed him a confident smile, her slanted eyes gleaming.]

[She pirouetted off the mast and landed right behind the ship's wheel.]

Perhaps we can be team.

[put_yur_guns_on]

Hah! That's a laugh. Why would I wanna do that?

[cherrybombpie]

[So that she could steal the ship in your sleep.]

Because you are powerful, and so am I. Together, we could do many things.

OHOHOHOHOHO~!

[put_yur_guns_on]

[That just makes him stare oddly at her before he barks out a laugh of his own. Wow, what a weirdo, this girl.]

Sorry, think I'll pass.

[cherrybombpie]

A pity.

[Kodachi let out a sigh.]

Suit yourself, and mourn the loss of my company. Ohohohohoho~! ♥

Yeah....no.

[He just shakes his head. Seems he was right about the "crazy" part.]

You can swim, right?

[cherrybombpie]

You are not making me get off this boat.

[She lifted her nose higher into the air. Who did he think she was? They may have reached a stalemate, but that was no reason for her to surrender and take to the water!]

But you might think about it.

See, you think I'm a ghost. So if that's the case, I've got no need for a ship. That said, there's nothin' stopping me from tearing this one in two.

[cherrybombpie]

I'm not one to question the doings of ghosts. They're strange.

[The martial artist sighed.]

If you're going to do that, then I'm going to really wish that I was a Japanese shrine maiden so that I could simply exorcise you.

[put_yur_guns_on]

[He laughs.]

If I were really a ghost, then I don't think even an exorcism could take care of me if I wanted to stick around.

[Idly giving his blade a few swishes in the air, he points it downward, electricity crackling along its edge as he eyes the deck below.]

One good slice down the middle. How 'bout it?

[cherrybombpie]

[She narrowed her eyes.]

You wouldn't dare.

[She raised a flower from her outstretched hand - a black rose, pointing it at him.]

[Grin.]

That's a dangerous phrase to use around me.

[cherrybombpie]

[Kodachi braced one hand on her hip, the rose still extended toward him.]

Are you going to do it or aren't you? I'm getting bored.

[put_yur_guns_on]

[With a snort, he ignores the girl's impatience as he eyes the ship. He sheathes the one blade he holds, only to draw out three in its place.

And with another grin flashed in Kodachi's direction, he leaps up to the tiptop of the mast, swinging his claw up into the air as though to summon lightning from the heavens as electricity sparks across his blades. Without further hesitation, he launches himself downwards, pulling his claw back as he nears the deck.]

[She narrowed her eyes. Without another word, she propelled herself off the ship's wheel and into his path, bracing her knees down onto the deck and thrusting up with the steel club suddenly in her hand. Her aim was once again the space between his eyes, the only part of his body unprotected by armor.]

[The rose in her other hand disintegrated into shreds of black petals, laced with a powerful toxin that could paralyze a man with one breath.]

[She braced herself, waiting for the explosion of their weapons meeting.]

[Oh, he was waiting for her move. That look on her pretty face didn't quite say that she was going to stand by and watch him do it, after all.

He sweeps his blades across him well before reaching Kodachi, sending an electric bolt charging the air as it flies towards her, simultaneously breaking him off of his initial dive. Masamune lands on the railing of the stern of the ship, still grinning.]

Huh, you're pretty serious.
