Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

The hair ruffle got an automatic little twitch, but Merlin brushed the twitch aside as he tried to give a better smile. "It's alright...I'm used to that too."

Can anyone say one princely clotpole by the name of Arthur Pendragon?

"How about I buy you a drink to make up for the scare?" Arthur suggested, offering him a hand up from the ground. "One magic user to another. And don't worry, no one gets killed here for it."

"A drink? Yeah, could use one." Or five. Merlin reached up to grasp the hand and let himself be helped up. He absently brushed off dust, not that it ever really helped much.

He sighed again, more of a gusty sound than before. "Well that's a relief!"

"I imagine a lot of us would be in trouble if that were the case. There's even a ship here with a dragon onboard, who I really hope to run into later," he said with a bright smile as he headed towards the tavern, expecting Merlin to follow.

A dragon? That got a bit of a grin, though before the whole dragon lord fiasco, it wouldn't have been the same. Merlin almost didn't, but then scurried to catch up.

"Sounds like it. An actual dragon?" Of course he has to ask.

"I haven't seen it myself, but the boy I was talking to said it was, and it certainly sounded like one," Arthur said cheerfully. "Pity he's a Viking, but I suppose even their lot have their black sheep, so he was rather pleasant to talk with."

He couldn't help the laugh at just how cheerful Arthur was, the terror and shock he'd been in just moments before was easing. "Viking? I don't know who they are, sorry."

"Ah, you'd have known them as the Danes, though I'm not so sure he's one of those," he said as they walked. "I've certainly never heard of them having dragons, and thank goodness. I'd have been done for."

Merlin stumbled a little, eyes widening before shaking his head and hurrying to catch up again. "Danes? What else should I know about these parts? Please don't tell me fairies are here too."

"I haven't seen any yet, all the pity. Just Mint Bunny here," Arthur said, nodding to his hovering friend as the creature followed them. "But perhaps what you should know the most about this place is that most of the people who'll talk to you aren't from here. We've been grabbed from our homes too."

'All the pity'. Merlin ran a hand through his hair, messing it up even further. Okay. So. This guy liked fairies? Why? He glanced at the bunny again, giving it a wary look. "So...you're friend there's a fairy?"

Logic. Use logic. Use your head and don't piss off the first person you've met, Merlin. But he listened to what else Arthur had to say, nibbling on a lip. "I'll...keep that in mind, thanks."

The nation paused, glancing up at the rabbit. "I think he is, at least. But you know, I don't think I've ever asked, of if I have they haven't said. But he's been with me since I came into being."
