The metal slid along each other before the man was thrown back a good dozen feet and the figure jumped backwards to stand ready for the rest of the attack next to Liz. In case they did attack and didn't run the way the seemed ready to, anyway.

Only the fires around him grew up, nine feet tall and started to reach for him, like reddish orange hands grabbing at him. He let out a yell, sword slashing, and backing up, tumbling over a wall of fire behind him, and running off, pants burning.
Liz? She wasn’t putting the fire out just yet, dark eyed and annoyed, wanting to actually chase the guy off into the ocean if she could. If she allowed herself to go any farther with this fire, she’d lose it. Hurt someone. Explode maybe...
The person in the impossible suit and huge needle standing near by. If he was a problem too, she’d handle it as well, but... so far he...she.... it was... helpful.
Orange eyes darted over, staring at the hooded figure with the sword like needle. “...Thanks.”

"You're welcome," She straightened up and turned the glowing portal towards the other woman. "I wasn't sure how much of a fight they'd put up against you, but they clearly weren't falling back at the threat of being incinerated."

Liz backed up a few steps, lowering her flames. She needed to let them go. Stop letting the licking flames encourage her to let go. She always wanted to let it go. her fists flexed and relaxed, and she let out a small breath. “At this point I would have been more than okay with incinerating them.” She had them. She could have dealt with it, but she didn’t WANT to burn anyone.

“Rapture? No. can’t say I am.” What is a splicer? A sister? How strange. “I’m from New Jersey...”
no subject
"I've never been there," she replied, curious. "Are there many in New Jersey that can do what you do?"
no subject
“Ah, no. I don’t know anyone else who can... ah, do that.” Her nose twitched a moment and she slide her hands into her pockets, glancing off to where she had walked from earlier. “I’m a bit of a freak back home.” then again, Freaks had to stick together, like Abe said.

"A lot of genetic augmentation was forced upon me. I think I would be more comfortable with it were it natural, but I've learned to accept what I have become. My father helped me with that," she continued after a moment. "I think it's very interesting that you can do it naturally. It sounds fascinating. And frightening. Mine, at least, came with lessons."

Her fires were out, her eyes back to blue. Liz felt... tired but not worn out. Though she felt some form of interest in her rescuer. "Being forced to do anything like that is horrible. Even having this naturally is a burden." She found herself saying bitterly.
"Not..." she said a moment after, sighing at herself. "...that there's anything wrong with it." Then, looking to the mysterious scub girl, she frowned. "Thanks for the assist though."
