Welcome to our first Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where players can test out their characters' voices, try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Jabberwock glances up at the crow's nest and grins widely at him.]

Literary nonsense of the highest calibre! I'll take your confusion to mean that you've never read it.

Might not even have it where 'm from. [ That's a bit of a huff. It's still weird talking about stuff like that. ] What 's it?

[ His head tilts and he gives a slight nod. ]

We got it. Just... haven't read it.

Then it's a good thing that I'm here. I'll write it down later so you can read it.

[As much as he likes to quote it, he's not one for reciting the whole thing.]

Might as well warn you, but it makes even less sense as a whole.

Like you'd know the whole thing by memory. [ He scoffs a bit. ]

What, like he threw a dictionary 'n a blender?

Why wouldn't I? I'm named in it. [Okay, so he's not actually the Jabberwock in the poem, but still. Close enough.]

Not quite. That would probably be easier to understand.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch" Sounds like my name to me.

That makes sense if you have a dictionary.

There's a difference between something that has a structure and utter nonsense.

Talk 'bout making sense... [ Mumblemumble. Thankfully he's up on the crow's nest! And has to speak up to be heard! ]

[He would take that as a compliment.]

That's the point of the nonsense literature genre!

[ Thus the mumbling. ]

There's not a genre for that! You're makin' that up.

There is indeed a genre for that. I'm not clever enough to make that up.

[ He gives Jabberwock a glower from where he's leaning over the edge of the nest banner. ]

S' that like the... monkeys with typewriters thing?

[Thankfully he's used to glowers and glares and all that sort.]

Not at all. It's fanciful and whimsical stories told with made up words. Some nursery rhymes would fall under the category.

[How is a crazy assassin teaching a child about nonsense verse.]

[ Because he is a crazy assassin and the child is a Sefton. Duh. ]

Sefton can make fifteen stupid faces, I've seen those icons

What's the point of sense? Just because you deem something to be invalid doesn't actually make it so.
