Welcome to our first Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where players can test out their characters' voices, try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Edward manages not to roll his eyes. He's actually quite proud of himself. Why join a crew if one was going to be entirely useless? Still, he doesn't say that.]

[ Hearing that song, Reisen's ears perk up, looking around. She is supposed to be working, as she always is, but she wants to take a little time for herself!

And so she follows the song, finding a girl she's never quite seen before.Best not to interrupt though, it seems as if the mermaid is enjoying herself. ...But that doesn't stop Reisen from tripping and falling over and making a lot of noise. ]

[Why was she keeping an orc on the crew again...? Oh, right, he could find his way through almost anything. Well, almost.]

[Izanami, of course, had no issue seeing through her own fog, and approached from behind, tapping him lightly on the shoulder with a foot.]

Leo grinned and bounced on his toes, before rolling his weight back. "Hey, buddy, you doing okay?" He looked fine! If sunburned and lost.

"No," Leo shook his head, just to add emphasis. "I got here this morning and haven't seen anyone, but maybe they'll show up?" If Nico was here, that said good things!

Though there is plenty of water around. Curious you would not take advantage of that.

[ Oh. Her. Zeref had been alive for centuries and had seen many forms of magic most people haven't even heard of before, but the kind of magic she held was utterly foreign to him. It was almost fascinating to him; she had somehow found a way to to extract her soul and hold it inside a magical artifact of some kind. It provided natural resistance to his Death Magic, but old habits died hard. ]

You are Mami-chan, aren't you?

But the 'Malice' is the main part! [ She gives a huff, as if Minako clearly did not understand 'taste'. Then, she brings a hand up to hold her own cheek, engaging in a fantasy. ] Imagine this: Drifting across the dark, foggy sea on the 'Roses and Malice', singing the cursed songs of pirates and sailors who have fallen before you. Doesn't that sound wonderful?

I heard you don't know what you're doing so I thought we could not know what we're doing together

[S'UP MASTER. Some of Assassin's 515646895 (80) personalities probably had something to say about your priorities, but this one has always been pretty diplomatic, so if she takes issue with them, she isn't saying. She's as respectful as ever as she materializes out of the shadows.]

I haven't been able to locate a cathedral.

[Razputin shakes his head and takes a good look around.]

“I must be in someone's mind, but who?”

[While the absence of mental cobwebs, and talking mental depictions of Napoleon have already tipped Raz off to this not being a mental world, the quickest way to getting answers is still good old-fashion investigating. And so you'll find the short boy chatting around, talking to everyone and everything; whether you said hello or not.]

“Uh, hey, so where are we?”
“What are you doing?”
“...Do you know where I could find a piece of bacon?”

[On the boat]
[Being from the circus has its advantages on a ship. The gypsy may not be accustomed to sailing- or being on the ocean at all, for that matter- but after a lifetime of tearing down and setting up the traveling caravans of his family's acrobat troupe, the higher reaches of the mast and upper sails are no struggle for Raz to navigate; making the Crow's Nest the ideal hangout spot to find him.

The only downside to the spectacular view was just that- the view. Raz could see the ocean at every angle he looked, all of the water that could rush in and consume him at any moment. No one yet has asked about why he refuses to look at the ocean, or nearly topples over on the main deck, but he can't hide it forever.]

[The crash makes Wakasagihime jump, shells slipping from her hands as she twists in the direction of the clattering.]

Oh, goodness—

[Immediately, she rises from where she's seated and floats over, one of her hands half extended toward Reisen.]

Are you all right?

It isn't being competitive. It's just being efficient.

[It is totally being competitive.]

[ Madoka stares for a moment. The only mermaid she's seen before... Actually, let's not go there. She shakes her head. ]

I'm okay, um, I think. I'm just trying to get to land.

... Do you think he'll even notice I'm not around?

Aye, Captain. I'll keep an eye out for things up here until we lower anchor.

[The praise and (decreasing) mangling of her name give her pause, and she smiles back down at him.]

Thank you... I'm still new at this, so I'm hoping I can manage all right.

Too --! [ And Perona lets out a rather undignified sneeze. ] AH--CHOO! Cold! It's way too cold! [ Pulling her longcoat closer to her body, she attempts to warm herself up, but it doesn't help very much. ]

You must be out of your mind, making us go out there! It's freezing! [ Yup, definitely sending her ghost form out. Perona turns back to settle in a safe corner of the ship. Once she finds somewhere well-hidden, she ejects her spirit from its body and floats back to where Karen is. ]

What are we looking for, anyway?!

[He was learning her name; she was learning to speak like a sailor. Neither of them were there yet, but they each improved just a little with every day.]

Only way to learn is to do. This is the sort of education landsmen get when they go to sea where I'm from.
