See you during the application round!
♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?
♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!
♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!
♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!
♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!
Seishin Muroi | Shiki
[His first question upon waking up here? Had been what, exactly, had become of the little shiki girl he'd been attempting to escape with. Next on his mind is how he's even alive. Immediately after that? Where, exactly, he even is....
...Hours later, he's discovered there's no hope for getting answers from the townsfolk.
The Jinrou's making a bit of a curious face as he looks up at the almost hauntingly beautiful fountain, arms crossed and tucked into his sleeves a bit. His eyes slowly slide down to the words etched on the boulder. With just a short pause, he's pulling out the journal and copying the words into a page in the very back.
...And, as expected, words are being written back at him, again. Unfortunately, none of which are helpful, so he doesn't bother replying. The priest has yet to make himself known on the...magical book- namely because of the things he's seen from a select doctor that he's attempting to avoid- at least for the time being, anyway.
No, he had resorted to simply writing a few questions and leaving it at that, upon his first discovery of said book. For the time being, he's being left with only the option of sitting and waiting for responses. A sigh escapes him as he turns away from the statue. There's a strange feeling swelling within his chest that he's beginning to struggle with ignoring.]
B) SHIP
[Weeks after waking up in this place, he's begun to get used to the idea of being part of a- ...crew. It's not something he ever could have expected. Or wished for. Fortunately, there are people he knows, here. One of which that has experience in dealing with the new...hunger he feels. And another he's known since childhood. That particular person, he'd expected to maybe...try and kill him. Thankfully, it seems that's the last thing on Toshio's mind. Even so, it doesn't seem the dead...stay dead, here. This world truly is strange...
Hands resting on the railing, Seishin closes his eyes and lets out a sigh. He still cannot help but to worry about Sunako. He can only hope she found safety. Of course, he's not a fool. He realizes the likelihood that she was found and killed. Still...]
Innie mennie minnie mo...A I CHOOSE A
[There wasn't a word out there that could describe his current state better. He was stuck, staring at that page as if he expected the words to suddenly run away and hide behind his desk. Part of him rather wished they would. But what left him like this? It wasn't really what was written...]
[... No, it was how it had been written.]
[That handwriting...]
[His fingers gently pressed over the letters as if they would ripple and fade away, leaving him as if by a dream. But still they remained, a beacon of hope or a black spot cursing him to a life of sorrow and despair he couldn't be sure yet.]
[There was no mistake; this was Seishin's hand writing. But still he comments on it, playing dumb as if he was just some other mysterious new arrival. After he explains what he can he asks a simple question, "What is your name?". He spends a few minutes, waiting for a response only for none to arrive. He sighs and moves away from where he had been resting.]
[He spent the day seeking out new medical supplies and restocking the boats first aid. It seemed a necessity to take every opportunity he could to perform this task and it helped get him to a place where he could continue his investigation.]
[Toshio turns the corner and looks up at the familiar statue, he had spent a long time just sitting by that fountain and thinking when he had landed here. Since then he had changed, not really physically but he could smell of sea air rather than fir trees and his usual brand of cigarette had to be switched up to something more accessible.]
[And he smelled of children, lots and lots of teenage children... Damn brats.]
[Well, whatever, enough living in the past. Except when his eyes glance down the past was literally right there, glaring him in the face. His eyes widen before lowing again as his expression turns into one of indifference. He wasn't sure what time period his friend had come from yet, and even if he did know what had happened between them...well...Seishin didn't exactly deserve to be privy to his emotions now.]
...What no greeting? No long time no see or how have you been? Really feeling the love, Seishin.
EW NO- i mean hello friend how are things
His expression tensed a bit upon seeing that oh-so-familiar face. That face he hadn't seen since he was speeding away in that car, during his attempted escape with Sunako. He had been so sure that was goodbye, for them. Especially after he'd found himself bleeding to death in the middle of the forest. Seishin had expected to never see that face, again. That face he had watched slowly transform from that of a teenager...to that of a man. It was strange to think how everything had turned out in such a short matter of time. One day, they were teenagers, still deciding their lives. The next, they were amidst the downfall of their village, watching it slowly become engulfed by merciless flames. It had been poetic, really.
The flames brought by hatred and narrow-mindedness had overtaken the very home those people had been attempting to protect.
At the doctor's words, those thoughts were paused and replaced by ones regarding his reasons for the avoidance. It hadn't entirely been a personal matter. No, more-or-less he was simply aiming to avoid conflict. He'd wanted to figure as much out about the new place he'd become the prisoner of, prior to dealing with any and all...personal matters. Toshio was definitely a personal matter that would take quite a bit of time to sort out, all things considered.
Seishin was going to be civil, of course. That was all he was going to be, however. In spite of their relationship in the past, the most recent events had made it impossible to simply go back to how they were. According to his current perspective, anyhow. In truth, it was a regrettable thing. They used to be so very close- opposites that somehow managed to become best friends.
Where Seishin had been kind and gentle, Toshio had been fierce and straightforward. That fire, that willpower, within him that drove him to do what he felt needed to be done. Seishin had felt that there was really nothing that could ever stand in that man's way. A trait befitting of a doctor. Then, everything changed...From the day he'd walked in on Toshio with his wife, things had officially changed between them. That was the day he saw that they truly were completely different from one another. It was sad, but so was utter cruelty that was reality.
After the long silence, Seishin turned to look at the brunette. His arms remained folded over his chest, green eyes resting on the doctor. He spoke in a calm tone, one that didn't reveal any of those inner thoughts.]
I never thought I'd see you, again. [He turned his head to look away. Yes, he was avoiding telling Toshio why he was steering clear of him.]
Oh you know...this and that.. plotting the death of your little girl..
[But the truth was that he couldn't, and as he looked into those eyes he felt himself start to choke up. He could never kill him, even if he had the perfect chance too. And right now could be that chance.]
[Because the longer he looked at his best friend, the more he noticed the changes.]
[His glasses where gone… yet Seishin had no problem with seeing Toshio and acted as if he hadn’t even noticed the change. And with a deep breath he finally managed to gain the will to bring it up.]
I'm surprised you can see me...What happened to your glasses?
[But he already knew the answer, and it made him cringe, feeling sick to his stomach. Suddenly a hand roughly runs through those spikes, as if trying to will his brain to just STOP, please...stop. But he would never be so lucky.]
Why, Seishin... WHY DID YOU HAVE TO COME BACK?
[He shouted, many of the villagers looking at them now. This would be how many times now he's yelled at Seishin due to frustration? And he hated it, he didn't mean to take it out on his friend, or hurt him. For once, he just wanted everything to go back to normal. But now any hopes of that seemed fruitless and it made him so angry.]
[But not once did his eyes move away from familiar green. ]
[Seishin, why did you have to come back to life?]
You keep your damn human hands away from her. >c
...it all added up to one thing.
There was a part of him that wished to cling to humanity, but it was small. It was a natural human instinct, though. He had started to accept his fate when he felt his body getting weaker and weaker. He had longed to remain part of the world, to protect Sunako, even if it meant being something other than human. Perhaps fate had heard his cries.
He never could have expected to become a Jinrou, though.
Toshio's question of why he had to come back would have normally caused him to flinch a bit. If only just from the fact that Toshio was yelling at him, again. That time, however, he could only stare back for a moment.
He couldn't tell Toshio the cliche line of 'it's not as though I chose to become this.' Part of him had. Seishin had been unhappy as a human. The village had sent him into despair, to the point of attempting suicide. Suffering had been what he'd felt in life...now it seemed he would have that for all of eternity. An eternity without the person he had charged himself with protecting.
After a moment of silence, he held a blink for a couple of seconds longer than necessary. He knew, in the end, the question was rhetorical. So, he didn't bother answering it. Toshio knew what he was, Seishin knew what he was, and it should be left at that. Perhaps it would...
No, nothing could spare Toshio even a little pain at knowing his childhood friend had become the very thing he hated.]
Are you going to try to kill me, too?
[His eyes opened and stared straight into Toshio's, his tone both calm and...sad. He was unable to deny that he was sad about even the idea of that man hating him...possibly enough to try to kill him. Try, since Seishin would vanish before he allowed Toshio to do that. Not simply for the sake of survival, but for the chance that Sunako could possibly show up and need him.]
Fine, but you gotta like..come back with him...okay?
[But there would be no escape, now he would have to answer the man in front of him and answer himself. He had plenty of reason too, and it honestly wasn't a matter of can or cannot. Toshio has already proven himself a highly resourceful man and capable of taking out anything that got in his way. It was really a matter of, does he want too?]
[Since Seishin caught him digging into graves he knew a cavern had started to grow between them, and this cavern only seemed to grow deeper and darker as time went on. And he knew there was a good chance that this would be the path the other would choose.]
[And if this conversation was happening during that time, as the world they grew up in burned to the ground, he would say yes and even make an attempt at the action.]
[The brunette lowered his eyes and slowly reached a hand into his pocket, bringing out a pack of cigarettes and grabbing one out with his teeth. He needed to buy some time, to think of what he wanted now.]
[At first he was just upholding his word and his promise to the villagers to protect them from harm. But then the incident with Tatsumi happened, and everything changed. It became more then duty, he truly despised them for what they had done and for making him feel like an ant beneath their designer shoes. And when he went so far as to allow his own wife to die, well there was no turning back after that.]
[But now that it's done, he was left with a question. Should he continue with his thirst for vengeance, or just try to leave it all behind him?]
...I don't know.
[He lights the cigarette and looks back up at his friend. And he has to smile at that, the fact that even now he still thought of Seishin as a friend.]
Are you my enemy?
[Are you going to hunt him down, even though your charge is nowhere to be found? Will you throw everything away? Or is there a chance they can mend things between them?]
No. :|
Not that he had wanted anyone to die. In truth, he hadn't been one-hundred percent sure of just exactly what he wanted, at the time. Looking back, though, it had only been about wishing for the village, itself, coming to no longer exist. It could have been as simple as everyone spontaneously leaving, at once, and he would have been fine with it- just so long as that place that had ruled his fate…was gone.
In the end, Seishin and Toshio had wanted the same thing, just in a different way. And to different extents. Toshio had wanted to protect the villagers, and Seishin had wanted to protect both the villagers and the shiki. Maybe a part of him had wished more for the shiki’s safety, simply because everyone else was against them. The ones condemned by God. The ones everyone shunned and retaliated against, when they had never really had a choice against attacking the humans. It was that, or death. Since when was fighting to live…a sin? A crime? What, exactly, made humans more important than shiki? Had it been simply because humans said so?
The day Toshio had killed Kyouko, had been the day it had truly sunk in. Seishin had gone there in hopes of patching things up, only to witness something beyond his imagination. The very…idea that Toshio could murder his own family, like that. Sure, they hadn’t exactly lived together the way most married couples did, but she had still been his wife. Seishin hadn’t even been able to say anything to him. All he could do was glare, and then walk out. That had been the last day Seishin attempted to talk some sense into that man.
That had also been the day he lost his best friend.
Seishin had a reason to despise the humans in a way. Not only had they slaughtered the shiki, but his mother. Her being murdered made absolutely zero sense. He wasn’t even sure what she could have been doing…other than… It had likely been because of him. The fact that it had been a group led by Toshio, himself, made the sick feeling in the pit of his stomach even worse. His mother had cared about Toshio. She had loved him, as well. And yet…look at how things had turned out.
The question caused a cold feeling of dread to wash over him. In spite of everything, in spite of the pain…the heartache…the hatred he held in his heart, in general…
Seishin couldn’t even fathom the idea of trying to kill the man standing before him. Even to protect Sunako, the most he could imagine doing was…running from him. Seishin held a blink, before green eyes opened and planted themselves on Toshio’s.]
It's not that simple. [He lowers an arm to his side, his other arm remaining bent as he looks down at the ground with a very serious look on his face. His tone is calm, but almost with a sound of bitterness within it.] …I never wanted to be your enemy, in the first place. People change, however, and some circumstances have the ability to drive even the best of friends onto separate paths.
[Nevertheless...]
I have no intention of going after you, if that's what you mean. [His chest tightens a little. Sure, he had no intention, but as the thought poked at the back of his mind...
He could feel a slight burning within his chest, right where it had tightened. He should probably cut things short.]
If you don't mind, I'd like to continue this conversation another time. [As polite as he sounded, his tone wasn't quite asking- and for someone who knew him as well as Toshio, the bit of urgency in his words was likely obvious.]
D: SO MEAN
[And he would continue to act as a Doctor, aiding those who desired to challenge their eventual demise. The humans had just as much of a right to fight for their lives as the Shiki did. And if those blood suckers had just continued to travel and feed from town to town rather than damn their little village as a refuge for the undead, he probably wouldn't have gotten involved. In fact, he probably wouldn’t have even noticed… after all, that was the power of that damnable thing called Rationality.]
[Perhaps the villagers could have just evacuated, but the families that lived there had existed for generations upon generations, and he doubted such a thought even crossed their minds. If he hadn't snapped them awake, proven their every fear to be real, they would have all died and Sunako would have had her way. And he wondered if Seishin even understood just who he was protecting.]
[Toshio did, as he watched the villagers work together to annihilate and destroy all evidence of the Shiki's existence. After a while many had lost their connection to the turned, and instead grinned and laughed over their accomplishments as they passed around corpses and boasted about their victories. He had turned them all into worthy killers, and that left him with a rather foul taste in his mouth. He couldn't even bare to think about what the survivors were doing now, or what they may do in the future. Any lives they take where also on his hands, even if he never knew they were stolen, much like those who were killed at the temple. If he had been there, he would have stopped them, but he didn't. He didn't know what happened to Mrs. Muroi, the woman he considered more of a mother then his own, or those that gave their lives to protect her. He didn’t even know what had become of those he sent after the writer. But it didn’t matter, he had plenty of time to think all of it through, and he decided upon this course of action. Whatever happened, he would accept the blame for.]
[But Toshio could guess what had become of them, and his guess was that those who did not make it out of the village during or after the war, was likely deceased. Even if they managed to survive getting caught in the crossfire, they would have burned along with the Satoba.]
No, Seishin, we're having this conversation now. [He did notice it, but he also knew that Seishin had the idea, and the right, to avoid him for the rest of their lives. There may not be a next time...And there was still things he needed to say that he never got a chance too.]
[Toshio had demanded he stop, that they continue to talk, but as they stare into one another’s eyes he couldn’t even think about a damn thing to say, or where to even begin. After a few moments, he found the words coming to his lips of their own accord.]
... I wonder if they told you, but when they finally came after me I called you.
[At the time there wasn’t any guarantee that the plan would work. Very easily Chizuru and her human pet could have killed him, for both the insult he caused her or if they had noticed anything suspicious. At that moment as he stared down the barrel of his gun he felt an ounce of fear and all he could think about was Seishin. ]
That’s when I learned that you had made up your mind. [He takes a long drag of his cigarette before catching his eyes again.] and there was no reason to forgive you, because there was nothing to be forgiven. Because that’s just who you are, the one who can turn monsters into men…
…as I realized I could turn men into monsters.
[Those last words were spoken in a hushed tone, but he could not say he felt guilty for what he had done. No, it was more like, a confession to something he knew very well he could never take back, but one he planned to not repeat, because he never wanted to involve another person again and risk losing them all again.]
NO U
However...
His expression softens, a bit, as the next words are said. No, they hadn't told him that. A part of him had wondered if Toshio had even...
Then, he's left looking a bit...surprised, at the next part of what Toshio says. He'd seriously never expected something like that to come out of Toshio's mouth. For a moment, all he could do was stare back into Toshio's eyes. Then, after a couple of seconds, his face tenses as he turns his head to look away. Nobody had told him that. The truth is written clearly within his expression.]
...I didn't know that.
[After a moment, he briefly looks back at Toshio's face, and then closes his eyes. He's thinking back to the day he'd walked into that room to find his father just...gone. Then, he went back in there to find those typed words in the form of a suicide letter. His father had simply given up, only to be met by a cruelly ironic twist of fate. His seeking out immortality had led him to the path of eternal suffering.
Seishin lets out a sigh, before speaking in a low tone.]
I went there to find out what happened to my father.
NUH UH D:
[Of course they wouldn't tell him. Saying shit like that could cause doubt, and when they eventually killed the doctor well, he honestly wondered how the writer would have reacted to hearing of such an incident.]
[Was the drift between them so wide that he wouldn't have even cared if he died?]
[When Seishin gives him his excuse he flinches, his nails digging into the palm of his hands as he tries to keep control over his anger. Yelling wasn't going to solve anything, and it would probably just give the other further reason to run and escape from the situation.]
[So with a deep breath he somehow manages to keep his calm, although a certain stiffness still rested in his brow as he stared at the man before him.]
I heard he had been turned into a shiki, he was the only one who actually smiled when Sadafumi found them.
But isn't that just an excuse? You can't tell me you didn't know what was going to happen as soon as you walked into that mansion.
[As he said these last words his voice slowly became thick with judgment and frustration. He knew Seishin wasn't dumb, and he if he was going to listen to anything, it had better be his honest feelings, not these excuses finally driving him to where he was headed all along.]
[Otherwise phrased as: “Stop with the bullshit, Seishin.”]
YUH HUH D:
(no subject)
(no subject)
B... ish?
[Two weeks ago, she felt a familiar presence. Familiar blood. A blood whom spoiled her happily. She wanted to approach him, but they were in the middle of an encounter with the navy. She wanted to leave, but the risks of having Seishin caught in the line of fire was too great. She had to ensure the Captain of the ship chasing them died first along with his crew before she can even think about going to Seishin.]
[When the battle was over, Seishin had found a crew already. Of all people he had to join, she had join Toshio's crew. She had to be careful if she wanted to approach Seishin. So one evening, when his crew was in deep sleep, Sunako appeared in his cabin. A cheerful and grateful expression upon her face.]
Mister Muroi!
Works for me~
Her voice.
Green eyes abruptly move from the page, landing on a face that immediately confirmed his guess of...who he was already so sure of it being.]
Sunako...
[His expression softened as he said the name- a name that, upon saying, the feeling of relief increased. Seishin stood, the journal being dropped onto his hammock.]
When did you arrive?[His expression tensed in an almost unnoticeable way. Toshio was on the ship. Yuuki Natsuno, as well. The risk of her being seen by either of them...] I'm sure you are fully aware of who is on this ship.
[An implication of what his concern was.]
YAY!!
Mister Muroi!
[Her voice was as cheerful as ever. After all, she never thought she'd ever see him again. She looked up at him with still the same smile she used to give him back in their world. No worries. Just pure happiness.]
One of them arrived months before. The other just arrived a month or so ago.
...why are you here?
Sunako, why so adorable. <3
On top of her being there, where he can protect her, she is worry-free. Somehow, it helps ease his own concerns- no, not completely. Seishin cannot help but to worry what will happen if Toshio were to see her, there. There's no doubt in his mind that he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe from him, but he doesn't want it to come to that.
Listening quietly to her answer, he gets the idea. Not only is she aware of their being here, but she knows when. As always, Sunako is smart...and aware of her surroundings. There's a reason, after all, that she's been alive as long as she has.
Her question comes, next, and his expression tenses just barely. He knows which 'here' she is referring to, without needing even the slightest explanation. What to say, though? He thinks on her words, for a moment. When he speaks, it's in a low tone.]
When I first arrived, Toshio managed to spot me in the Town Square. He wasted no time in approaching me. We talked for quite a bit of time. [Pause.] I suppose, in the end, the truth remains that this isn't home. The circumstances are different, in this place, than they were in Sotoba…for all of us.
[And, in spite of everything, Seishin still cares about Toshio.
Suddenly, a thought occurs to him-- Nobody has come from the same time period, so far. Which time does she come from?]
May I ask you something, Sunako?
Because it is Mister Muroi!
[Her dark eyes reflected some of her sadness when she had heard him speak so fondly of Toshio.]
I wanted..
[She paused as he continued to speak.]
I wanted to go to you too. But the Navy was relentless. They are just as scary as the villagers.
[Her head tilted ever so slightly at Seishin's inquiry. Then a nod followed.]
Is something bothering you?
no subject
Yes, they're definitely dangerous. I'm glad you were able to avoid them.
[When she asked if something was bothering him, he could only shift his eyes away from her for a moment.]
Yes, actually. [He looked back down, green eyes resting on the curious face.] What's the last thing you remember happening, back on our world?
B)
It’s easy to befriend the other crewmates. They’re not SEES, but they are his comrades now, and he wants to get along with them. It’ll make their mission easier, if they all get to know each other. Some of them are more private than others, and he respects their space.
At one of the islands that they set out to explore, Akihiko waits until night falls before he quietly leaves his room. He looks over the body of water stretching across the shadowy distance, and wonders if it’s safe enough to swim at this time. Maybe after his run…
The moon chases him as he moves along the shoreline. It’s quiet and empty, for the most part. Until he catches sight of someone in the distance, and draws closer, out of curiosity.]
/o/
He easily sees the silver-haired teenager approaching him. Seishin recognizes him as a fellow crew member- one that's made efforts to get to know him, in fact. The once-priest hasn't told anyone about his not being human. Even so, Seishin has been polite, giving his name when asked...and what his title had been back on his world.
Even back in his world, he wouldn't have that title any longer.
Fortunately, Seishin is able to function by eating regular human food. He's managed to avoid drinking the blood of any of his crew members, so far. He knows how it works, thanks to time spent with Sunako. He could easily tell a crew member to just forget about it, if he so chose. Weakening one of the crew, however, is likely a bad idea. So he told himself that he will wait until they get to a town. Feeding off of a random civilian of this world seems like the most logical choice, after all.
When the one named Akihiko Sanada draws close enough for Seishin to speak without having to raise his voice, the Jinrou greets him.]
This is the nicest one we've been to, so far.
[Meaning the island, of course.]
\o\
[He doesn’t want to be impolite, even though his muscles are complaining about wanting a longer workout. Calmly, the boxer starts stretching his limbs, figuring he can do something, even if it isn’t full-on running.
He turns his head back to glance at the island behind them, and then nods in agreement.] It’s not as dangerous as some of the other ones’ve been. [Which he’s honestly a little disappointed about, and it can be detected in his voice. He has always been eager to jump into a fight with both fists bared, and fights are more scarce here than back home.]
Are you having trouble sleeping?
\o/
No, it's certainly not. [He folds his arms in front of his chest, before turning to look out at the ocean. The sounds of the night, the calm muttering from the ship in the distance, the smell of the water...the forest behind him...the brightness of the colors. All of it was still taking some getting used to, being able to sense his surroundings completely. The biggest was being able to see almost perfectly at night.
The question about his having trouble sleeping actually brought a light smile to his lips.] I suppose...yes.
[Smile fading, he lowers his arms back down to his own sides.] What about yourself, Sanada-kun?
/o\
Well, we’re not setting out anytime soon, but you should rest up for the next place we’re going to visit.
[The returning question makes Akihiko want to smirk. Instead, he glances off to the side, remembering all of the nights he and his comrades spent exploring Tartarus. Normal sleeping schedule? Given how busy they were between SEES duties and school? Sometimes, the hours had blurred together so seamlessly that he wasn’t sure when night ended and the day began.
He keeps his tone lighthearted and cheerful as usual, and simply replies.] I’m getting some training in. Can’t slack off, just because there aren’t any monsters here.
~o~
In all reality, his mind is completely full. Between dealing with unresolved emotions towards said doctor, and dealing with the unknown...
Seishin's lately been drowning in his own thoughts. His recent writings in this journal might imply that, for anyone that discovers the things are being written by him- he doesn't exactly make this clear, after all.]
I see. Wouldn't rest be a good idea for you, as well, though?
:O
I sleep enough. [More so here than back home, ever. After the Dark Hour finally ended, he was still used to waking up at midnight, just in case. It was going to take time before the SEES members moved away from what they had been used to, over the past year.
There’s a wistful edge to the curve of his lips as he remarks absently.] The food on the ship could use some work, though. If my friend was here… [Akihiko trails off somewhat awkwardly. Not a reference he wants to make very often. He would never stop thinking about and missing his friends back in Japan. But he has to focus on finding a way home, instead of spending too much time reminiscing.]
Anyway… it’s pretty quiet here, huh? Nothing like living in the city.
O:
I take it they cook well?
[Seishin looks back out to the ocean at the mention of...city life. He had wanted nothing more than to be able to get out of that village, actually.]
True. It was always quiet in Sotoba Village, especially where I lived. Though, towards the end--
[It had become even more quiet. As the population had dwindled down to a single-digit percentage of what it once was, there had been an increase in the silence.]
--...never mind. [He gives the faintest smile of exasperation, before he looks away and allows the smile to drop somewhat quickly. After a brief pause, he attempts to shift the conversation.] What was your city like?
\(@ ̄∇ ̄@)/
[Akihiko has to push aside that startling pang of guilt before he can ask.] A village? Like, in the countryside? So this kind of setting suits you, huh?
[Shinji might have… He shakes his head, once again having to cast away the thought. Out of all the people he left behind, he misses Miki and Shinji the most. Here, he can’t visit their graves…
Akihiko presses his lips together for a brief instance. He notices that obvious subject change, but isn't going to press. They haven't quite reached that level of comfort yet.] Port Island isn’t too crowded. I mean, it’s not like Tokyo or anything. We’ve got schools and malls and a shrine – pretty typical. [What happened at midnight made things much more interesting.]
damn you people with your fancy expression
my secret: copy and paste :3 also, almost tagged you with Gaara orz
