Welcome to our first Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where players can test out their characters' voices, try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

Hey...! [And there's Ellen, blinking at how Sora's just busy moping the floor. She's going to try to get your attention now.] ...why are you still moping? Don't you think you've done enough?

[ Mr. Pirate do you really think a merchant would not have considered these things! GOSH. ]

Well, obviously it's way easier to buy my wares over and over at cheap prices than steal them once! Recettear takes orders for any type of goods, and I'll even buy loot so you can stay out for longer. I'm a thousand times more useful alive, so no pirate will grab me if they're smart.

[ thanks for checking whether she's safe though, you're clearly a bro. ]

"I dunno! I howl at the moon sometimes when we have a really good party." Or when they were pretending. "It's fun."

He moves to sit cross legged on the railing, absently gripping one ankle and raises his free hand.

"Yo, I'm Luffy. Who are you?"

Piracy's already doomed from where I'm standing.

[ Says the space pirate who was technically next in line to inherit a ship from her father, ended up working on her best friend's ship, and is faced with the idea of trying to figure out how the hell the ocean works. Even if she's got a stern face, she's got little idea of what's going on here. ]

At least with such limited horizons.

[ She wants to go back to space rtfn. ]

Mistress needs a lot of sleep! Though she really shouldn't sleep so much, it's probably bad for her health.

[ No wait, that doesn't matter!!!! ]

You're still bothering everyone else, you should try to be quieter!

Well, if you say so... [No use arguing with Hummy. Hummy DOES know best.] Though, what should we get with what we bring back? I mean, beyond the basics...

[The few things she dislikes in the world, it had to be cruelty to animals. Even if the unicorns look weird, they seem intelligent enough to know this kid is an idiot.]

What the Hell are you doing?!

[She's not going to go save them, because that would be a waste of energy.]

That was highly unnecessary!

Ouch! [that sends him crashing to the floor, but he flips over quick enough and bolts toward the window instead. Kicking a table at Smoker along the way to slow him down]

THEY SHOULD it would be hilarious

[The small priest glances behind him, shaking his head slightly.]

My best guess is that this -- [He taps a gloved finger against the carved words] -- is some sort of puzzle. The first part here...

[Kurt recites it.]

Behold this ruby,
Centuries old.
Its power is great,
True depths untold.

Whether or not it's an actual ruby that once was set in this fountain, the fountain itself, or something else valuable, I don't know. But it's clearly an important artifact.

Which leads to this next part...

What once was whole,
Now in parts 'tis shattered.
Having it all,
Aye, that's what matters.

It was broken somehow. The fountain itself is in a fairly obvious state of neglect and decay, and any ruby or other precious item that could have been here is gone. It's safe to say that this part tells us it was broken somehow, but how it was broken is apparently unimportant. What is important is the pieces.

Which leads into the next verse.

Rebuild the gem
And whatever ye wish will be.
Whether wealth, good fortune,
Mayhap the chance to flee.

This seems to suggest that if someone is to find all the pieces of whatever the "ruby" is and puts it back together, a wish of theirs will be granted, no matter what it is. It mentions money, good luck, and "a chance to flee" -- perhaps the ability to go home for those like us?

The last one is the most worrying, though.

Strangers listen:
Take heed, take care.
Or be lost forever
To Davy Jones' lair.

Admittedly, I'm not sure what "Davy Jones' lair" is, but even I can see this is a warning. There's severe danger here, one that applies only to those of us that were brought here, that we must be careful of.

[ Never mind that Tenka's not really proper part of any crew, but she seems pretty amusing.

Just a second there , though. ] Cupcakes?

[It's really a good thing he's fairly desensitized to the strange and weird and impossible, because a talking pink pony definitely ranks as all three. Along with disturbing.]

Got both me eyes, in case you very well couldn't tell.

So do I! [She lifts up her eyepatch to reveal a perfectly blue eye!] SEE?!

They were annoying! [sheesh] Anyway, they're fine. They're full of air.

[and he points up to where the unicorns are still floating, looking like derpy balloons and every so often letting off farts that sound like a tiny fog horn]

[With just a touch of amusement, as he idly toys at the cuff of shit. Those that have been burned are always...So obvious.]

"At least you didn't die out there." Oh look, Ships Doctor survived too and she's leaning back in her seat a little, balancing the dingy.

"It could be a whole lot worse."

Oh yeah! For grass! [scribble scribble] What do you like to eat? [because if she was going to be in the picture she might as well have something tasty to munch on]

[Ellen's seen a lot of things. Ellen's been a lot of things. Thus, the eyepatch-wearing pony doesn't surprise her at all. Though, she IS curious about what's going on.]

...hey, there. What are ya drawing?

Yeppers! I have cloth for bandages, and herbs for fevers and illness, and even some meditation rings that restore mental energy!

[ she's opening boxes as she speaks, tugging out anything that might be useful, including a small selection of healthy foods and mineral supplements. ] Is your crew okay?

Yes...how majestic. [Unicorns, you have been demoted in the rank of respect.]

However, pummeling a unicorn is quite cowardly. [And pathetic.]

A- [Robin awoke in the Town Square, at the foot of the fountain. Her head felt fuzzy, but she was surprised to find no other bumps or bruising. Slowly, she stood, sending out a network of ojos fleur to get a feel for her surroundings. Do come by and say hello.]

B- [Pirates off the starboard bow? Indeed. Robin swings across onto the deck via a chain of manos fleur, smirking. She stands up straight, wrists crossed over her heart- her tell tale precursor to an attack. Better make a move fast!]

[He bites back the comment about perhaps it has much to do with too many women, because...Well, he's gotten chewed for that before.

Instead, he just gives a shrug.]

Only because they're bloody giving the titles away at this point. Any moron that can bleat louder than another be made captain. Sad, that.

A giant sea cupcake! It's attacking a ship make of forks!

Yay, I have two bags of baking flour! Lots of spices and sugar, too. Are you making cupcakes?

Woohoo! [and he takes a bunch at once because yum! And shivers!] These are so good! [sudden realization] Oi! Cat Lady! Do you have any meat cupcakes?!

A. [Ships doctor of course. She was working hard at healing people after the recent skirmish. Luckily, her artes still worked here, even with the absence of mana. Maybe it was her innate powers adapting, but otherwise...]

Stop squirming please and let me work! You're going to tear yourself open again at this rate!

B. [Estelle's sipping a rather rank drink without flinching. How many did she have? But it was a cold night and the rum was watered down to keep the chill off.]

It feels like a chill wind tonight...

[Despite this, her eyes were very clear at best.]

C. [A boarding party had lead to swordsmanship, and Estelle was weaving through the crowd, clashing blades and mixing it up with opponents. She was doing rather well, even among the cannonfire. A barrier arte went up and grapeshot raked the shield.]
